The Archimedes Screw is a classic science park exhibit that demonstrates one of the oldest known mechanical devices used for lifting water, invented by the Greek mathematician Archimedes. The model consists of a helical screw enclosed within a tube, mounted at an angle inside a water trough. When the hand crank is turned, the rotating spiral lifts water from the lower basin upward and discharges it at the top visually illustrating the principle of converting rotational motion into vertical fluid transport.
